Hudson Valley Council
Dutchess District
Troop 82 of the Boy Scouts of America is chartered to the Trinity United Methodist Church in LaGrangeville, NY as part of the Dutchess district in the Hudson Valley council. The Troop was founded in 1955, making our 50th anniversary the year 2005. The Troop currently has almost 50 youth members. and prides itself on our many accomplishments in the past few years. Troop 82 frequents the outdoors and takes a camping trip, the heart of Scouting, once a month. Also, our Troop has had over twenty Scouts reach the Rank of Eagle Scout in the past five or so years. This is quite an accomplishment, as less than two percent of all Boy Scouts nationally ever reach this highest Rank.
We are an active boy-led troop that enjoys the monthly camping trips. Our Scouts enjoy the challenge of year round camping and camp cooking. We also hold trips to other destinations, such as Catamount Aerial Adventures for tree-top challenges and zip lining fun and overnight trips to Albany Indoor Rockgym with their climbing walls and unique indoor cave system. We also plan on a historical trip each year, past trips include Gettysburg and Fort Ticonderoga. We also like to take advantage of our local area by not only camping at Nooteeming and Bullowa, but by hiking many trails.
